LED Lighting at Peru’s National Stadium

The Estadio Nacional (National Stadium) of Peru is the national sports stadium in Peru. It was inaugurated on October 27, 1952 ; however, according to ElectroniCast Consultants, the stadium is currently undergoing heavy renovation works, which is providing a brand-new appearance.  Improvements the construction of 371 boxes, 703 underground parking spaces, a new tower with a panoramic gourmet restaurant, along with a fantastic LED-based (Light Emitting Diode) interactive lighting on the exterior façade of this landmark, as well as LED giant screens for spectators inside the stadium. The costs are estimated on S./ 150,000,000 (about US$52 million). The inauguration is expected for July 24th 2011.

Last Thursday night (June 16, 2011) the interactive lighting system at the National Stadium in Lima, Peru was tested. The software has been implemented for the first interactive lighting system in the world using the latest LED technologies.

The Cinimod Studio team have been working away with CAM and Arquileds on an interactive lighting scheme for Peru’s National Football Stadium.  Cinimod Studio is a cross-discipline practice based in London specializing in the fusion of architecture and lighting design. The architect Dominic Harris, whose passion for interactive art and lighting design has produced, built projects now found across the international art and architecture scene started it.

The ongoing work of Cinimod Studio is both visually stunning and technologically advanced. A dedication to research and development ensures that the studio stays abreast of the latest technologies and fabrication techniques. The studio is currently involved in several projects in both the UK and abroad, and has designed bespoke lighting products that are now in production.
